'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Ski Resort Blaze

The relatives of young people unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an agonising wait for answers and pleading for information about their loved ones online.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Confirmed footage reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have stated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and wounded another 119. Officials said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work still underway to name the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been posting on the internet to appeal for clues about their missing relatives who were in attendance that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his mother.

The who lives of Lutry near the city, informed a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. It's terrible," she told the paper.

She added that some of his peers had been found with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through hell."

The Italy's government has confirmed that six of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last heard from around the turn of the new year on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who represented passion and authentic values."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"Someone with him said they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators said, "He was known for his kindness and smile, combined with great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in the country, was also present on that night, according to reports.

Her brother has published an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
