Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
