A Heap of Anime News Arrived During the Festive Season
The Yuletide season provide a multitude of pursuits considerably more enjoyable than catching up on the updates: unwrapping gifts, getting stuffed on holiday treats, and harnessing meditation skills to not snapping at family members. It is wished you succeeded in do all these things and more. Nevertheless, the showbiz industry doesn't take a break, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting developments came out over the holidays, and just in case you overlooked some of them, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Set to Continue (By 2027)
Truly the most surprising revelation, the much-discussed troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to deter more episodes. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—a date so remote they might as well have dubbed it season 4. More surprisingly, animation studio J.C. Staff will still be in charge. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is set to direct from the beginning, which is seen as a good sign. However, the main art for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This makes me think that, by now, they must be trolling the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a name for being an elite animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its work but for the ethical practices of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime based on a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became widespread acclaim when it first appeared in 2022 after just a few chapters, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it returned with a lighter schedule, the series proved it still retained the fans' support and enthusiasm, and now the community is ecstatic about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Season 6 Will Get a Sequel In Production
Kingdom is the top-selling, decades-spanning Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only just received an English localization, but the anime has been going on for a while, and season 6 was a further excellent entry. Apparently that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will almost certainly air in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
One more studio famous for the artistic merit of its productions, Science Saru has given us hit shows of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, most recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, which is based on the real historical figure of Fatima, an powerful woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and captivating visual style, which reminds me a bit of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my must-watch list.
The Tougen Anki Series Will Continue With a Second Season
Shortly after the conclusion of episode 24, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be securing a follow-up. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm premiere date has not been disclosed yet.
